“Level Funded” means one monthly premium that covers administrative fees, claims costs, networks, pharmacy, health management programs and the cost of reinsurance that limits an employers’ out-of-pocket expenses to their monthly premium.
“Self-Insured” translates to 20% or more annual savings because self- insured employers are exempt from most taxes and assessments insurance companies are required to pay. Plus, because a self-insured plan is considered an ERISA plan, state mandated benefits may be excluded, which provides flexibility to offer this plan across state lines.
“Self-Insured” also means that, if claim costs are lower than expected, the employers keep the savings.
